Green Accomplishments
At the beginning of the 2008 season Savoury's started implementing the recycling of:
- Soda cans
- Water bottles
- Glass bottles
- Juice bottles
- #10 aluminum cans
- Olive, canola, peanut oil containers
- Card board boxes
As of October 08
All disposables have been changed to compostable-biodegradable items; this includes all paper plates, disposable utensils, cups, lids, plastic containers and trash bags. There are a few remaining items that we are cycling out such as straws and plastic wrap as there has been an issue with the like kind of biodegradable items being able to hold up to the work we require of them. We will endeavor to replace them until everything we use is completely compostable.

Installed APEX - Ecolab’s eco-friendly chemical system for ware washing
Accomplished:
- Post consumer recycled towels used throughout kitchens and bathrooms
- Washable towels for kitchen use were applicable
- Bar service with standard glassware, recyclable bottles and biodegradable plastic beverage containers
- Bar service using organic mixes available upon request by event planner
- Donation program in place for excess foods to be sent to local homeless shelters or other organizations-equals 2000 pounds of better of donated product.
- Juices provided in carafes except in concession related areas
- Cream for coffee in carafes
- No prefilled water or tea glasses
- Implementation of recycling stations on events as applicable
- Staff aiding guests in proper disposal of food waste and biodegradable waste
- Partnered with the City of Palm Springs in a pilot composting program
